"Due to its complexity, we collaborated with guest curator Jens Hauser and the artists for over three years to develop this performance.Artist Marion Laval-Jeantet underwent several stages of body preparation to execute the trans-species communication act.In the performance we produced in 2010, she received an injection of a serum made from horse blood into her armpit vein, which she accepted as xeno-transplanted information from another species.
Through this explicit self-experimentation, the artist positioned her poetic statement in the realm of the Real, leaving little or no room for arbitrary interpretations. This artwork radically redefined the animality of humans, enabling us to envision a post-anthropocentric world in a completely new way."
