"As part of the annual Break21 festival (2002), produced by Kapelica Gallery, visiting curators Olga Majcen and Sunčica Ostojić proposed a central theme centered on the artistic exploration of the life-death dichotomy. The festival, titled
Dead or Alive, featured extraordinary artists such as Kira O'Reilly, Franco B, Havve Fjell, Dietmar Bruckmayr, Stahl Stenclie, and Stephen Shanabrook, among others.
The delicate line between life and death became a defining interest in artistically examining the metaphysics of life, aliveness, and the life-like qualities of all living beings, biomedia, and machines. Throughout the festival, the conceptual notion of the larger-than-life sought to achieve its materialization."
