Title : Familiar Grids

Familiar Grids is an Excel Sheet based art work and pedagogical exercise located in Google Docs developed by Kaushal Sapre, artist, critic, curator and teacher, together with his students. It uses the properties of a spreadsheet to create an image text work that is both a commentary on the culture of spreadsheets as an instrument of work, as well as a demonstration of its creative and critical possibilities. The work is accessible in the form of an ebook linked to a QR code.

Kaushal Sapre (b. 1990, based in Delhi) is a researcher, artist and curator. He studied physics and engineering before completing his masters in visual art from Ambedkar University in 2017. Kaushal’s work addresses everyday experiences of living within contemporary technical systems, in an effort to think through conceptions of subjecthood, agency and community. He is part of many self organized artist initiatives to creates spaces and process.
